BUBBLE

One day, I found myself grumpy.

I was painting a ceiling. Which may sound like fun, but I assure you, it was not. The paint splatters down in your eyes and my shoulders get tired.... I was grumpy.

But there in that place of irritation, the Spirit of the Lord encouraged me that there is a well spring of joy and goodness that is always accessible, even in the worst situations.

Now granted, being grumpy and covered with paint splatters isn't anywhere near the worst situation. But anyone who has ever been grumpy knows it can take a big step of faith to get un-grumpified quickly.

And that is what I did. I took a step of faith. I yielded myself to the Holy Spirit in me and decided I would do what He wanted me to do: be joyful and grateful and shake off the grumpy goo that clings to us when we are pouting and feeling sorry for ourselves.

He reminded me that there is a spring in my belly that I can clog up with grumpy goo or I can take the lid off and allow His goodness to bubble up and fill me up with every good and perfect gift.

So I spoke to the well spring. I said, bubble up joy! Bubble up peace! I want to drink of the fresh, pure, living water that flows from the throne of God. I want a rich flowing river, not a tiny trickling stream!

Before I knew it, He had given me this song. I was laughing and dancing and singing and there may or may not have been more paint splattered about the place.

Regardless, cleaning it up was a lot more fun!
