Do we praise because we are happy? or are we happy because we praise?

I think its a bit of both! The Psalmist said “I will bless the Lord at all times, His praise will continually be in my mouth (Psalm 34:1). Paul told us to “continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.” With that in mind, the message is clear: we are supposed to keep on praising His name ALL the TIME! Not some times, or half time, or when we feel like it or when things are going well… but ALL the TIME!

To me, the most simple and practical way to do that is in Ephesians 5:19, “in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.”

I am constantly singing to God. Most of the time it is just super simple (and very repetitive) words: “I love you, Jesus” “Praise Your Holy name, for you are worthy of all praise!” “God, You are so good to me” and so on….

But SOMETIMES, He takes me somewhere special. The more I sing to Him and spend time in His word, the more it happens. He brings scriptures to my heart and I go look them up. Then he sets them to melody to help me remember them. This keeps the word alive in my heart all day! I don’t have to be reading my bible to be focused on the word! It builds up my faith, strengthens my spirit, and comforts me in time of trouble.
